Spinnerbaits are designed with one or more metal blades that spin in the water, catching the attention of fish via vibration (increases with broader blades) and reflecting flashes of light (intensity determined by size, texture and color). Hammered nickel typically creates the most flash in sunny conditions, whereas fluorescent blades would be a good choice in low light. Retrieval speed is usually medium to slow, with the blade design determining the right speed that will maintain spin.
